Just The Perfect Thing

My mother taught me to sew--before I could read. She learned from her mom who learned from her mom, my great grandma Jane who we all lovingly called Nana. Knowing how to sew is really a gift I received an long time ago. And I'm so grateful for it.

The down side of this gift is you develop this ability to imagine just what you want--pattern, color, print, detailing, everything and you are just sad when you can't get exactly what you want. Often shopping just makes you dream of what you want or what you could make, not what's immediately available and you sometimes never find just exactly what you want.

I've working on getting the perfect family picture to hang in our house--and now I will need to find the house to hang the picture in. Anyway, I decided we would all wear various shades of blue in our latest attempt at a perfect picture, and since we took them at the beach--khaki shorts. But I don't like myself in khaki shorts, and I'm the mom and the only female, so I should be able to wear whatever I want. Right?

So I dreamt the perfect skirt. And then I found some linen in the perfect color, found an almost perfect pattern (but I could alter it no prob), and proceeded to make the perfect skirt for the photos. It didn't take long, and I am pleased with the result.

More photos to come. Thanks for the photo shoot Amy!
