A Dozen Good Ones

Mike and I celebrated our 12th anniversary August 24th. (Thanks for the music card, I love it.) This picture was taken in October 1993, nearly 15 years ago. We are 18 at the time, walking in front of the Bean Museum at BYU. (ironic our very good friends here are the same Bean family) I keep this picture on my mantle, it makes me smile. (No scanner, sorry it's blurry) The glasses are ridiculous--they make me smile too. In some ways it seems that picture was taken yesterday and in others it was so long ago--mostly because of all the adventures we've had since then. Its very strange to me to be married 12 years. I remember when my parents had been married 12 years, I was 11. And I remember my grandparent's 30th anniversary party, even the dress I was wearing. I suppose celebrating our 30th will be weird too.

The best part of celebrating an anniversary is being able to say--another year has past and I am still so very glad I married you. And I would love to take a walk past the Bean museum with you anytime, or picnic under the bell tower, sit up all night talking on a heating vent, hike Timp--I'll walk behind this time in case you fall off a cliff again, walk to the creamery for 99 cent Rice Crispy treats, meet you at the library to wake you up for class, or any of the other things we did that first semester of school. Happy 12th!

"Ooo you're my best friend
that I ever had
Been with you such a long time
You're my sunshine
And I want you to know that my feelings are true
I really love you,
you're my best friend
Oooo you make me live . . . "
