My girlfriend, Megan, told me the other day that her older kids (10, 8, and 5) thought that Mason (2) and Aaron could be twins. I looked at her and said what? She laughed and said she had a similar reaction too. She asked them why they thought they could be twins. They said they are the same size, they like the same things, they have similar features--long faces and big round eyes, they respond to things the same way, they talk kind of the same, they are both kind of skinny, they are both nice, etc. (in my head I'm thinking I hope Mason's favorite word isn't NO! like it is Aarons, but it probably is.) Megan said to them, "But Aaron is a lot darker than Mason." Just to see what they would say. Her kids just looked at each other like, well of coarse Mom, they're not exactly the same.
Megan was so proud, she said, "Isn't that cool? My kids are color blind." I thought is was so great that they could see the similarities and not the differences. It makes me hopeful as a mom that Aaron will have lots of good friends that love him just like we do. And truely there is not a lot different between Aaron and Mason, they are both super cute sweet boys whom I suspect will grow into handsome kind men.
