Our nephew James is serving a mssion in the Ventura, California Mission. He's currently serving up in the mountains of Los Angeles County.
We had a free Saturday and so we decided to drive up and pay him a visit. We were hoping to see snow, but it had all melted away--ok Mike was hoping to see snow. I was happy to wear flip-flops and sunglasses. James looked great and seemed to be loving his mission and working hard. He sounded just like one of Mike's brothers, I could easlily have mistaken his voice on the phone. His companion was a really nice guy from Payson, Utah.
We met them at Jack in the Box and got to buy them lunch and spend an hour or so with them between appointments. There is just something great about missionaries and the happiness they carry with them. I know it meant a lot to them to see some family at Christmas time and eat some homemade treats, but it was ua who really benefitted. It was super good for us to see them and feel their happy glow. I hope some of it rubbed off on my boys.

That's so great. I'm glad you got to go. By the way, watching the way you guys are enjoying being back in California make me want to visit so much. Miss you.
I know I have never met you or your husband but I am so grateful that you went and visited him.

James looks SO great! I keep hoping that someone I know will go visit our son William in Colombia and take him to lunch! :) I doubt that will happen. :) We LOVE California...love the shorts and sandals in December. What a great aunt and uncle you are! Jennie said it meant so much to James that you would make the effort to see him. We LOVE missionaries!
