A 30+ Year Old Tradition

Every year since I can remember my mom and her siblings get together for Christmas. Every year we re-enact the nativity scene. This year my guys were the wise guys. My favorite part of this shot is the Hulk pj's under Owen's head dress. They are all wearing their pj's so that it was a quick to bed once we got back home. In Owen's metal bucket is ice--one of his most favorite things, a generous gift for him to give to baby Jesus.

Don't feel like you have to watch this video. It's mostly posted for family that missed it or that might want to laugh their heads off again. I hope it doesn't offend anyone, we do this with the intent of remembering the true meaning of Christmas. And to teach the children about the events that surrounded Christ's birth, but I'm not sure how much of that sunk in this year.

The best part of the tradition is that once you're married you don't have to participate anymore, you get to just sing, watch, photograph, record, laugh, smile, chase escapees, etc. Page's flashlight star was a new prop this year. It was a hit and we'll probably see that again in years to come. Even if she did look like she was about to tell a ghost story.

That was great! It reminds me how important it is to keep up those traditions even when the re-enactment isn't perfect and you're not sure they even "get" it. The message is clear.
