Well it's official. Mike has accepted a new job. On August 10th he will be starting as Director of a Physical Therapy clinic in Costa Mesa, California. This is a great career oppertunity for Mike. The owner is looking to sell the clinic or take a partner in the near future. There is a community college blocks away with a strong athletics department where hopefully he can use all his sports med training. He flew down and met with the owner the last weekend in June and they have been working out the details ever since. Today he sent in his acceptance of her offer.
The adoption is not final and so the boys and I will have to stay in Washington until it is all finished with the state. We are in the final phases of the adoption and I am very hopeful that things will be done soon after Mike starts his new job. (Unfortunately probably not before.) Mike will come back for our adoption weekend--court finalization, sealing, celebration and Sunday name and blessings. We are hoping Luke will be able to start kindergarten in CA at his new school.
I grew up in Orange County, my family is there, and there are so many things I love about where I am from. Despite all that, I never thought we would move there. Mike is more a green trees, wide open spaces, four seasons kind of guy. We love Washington very much and have a very good and full life here. Still we have felt that the best thing for our little growing family is to be closer to family with plenty of warm weather for an active outside lifestyle.
The next few months will be busy, stressful, and heartbreaking. It will be so hard to say leave everyone and everything we love here. (I really just don't want to think about it.) At the same time we will be looking forward to SUNSHINE (the boys will learn what it's like to have a shadow!), the beach--sand castles, bonfires, boogie boards, people watching, crab hunting, shell collecting, tide pools, Balboa bars, maybe I'll take up surfing again, pool parties at Aunt Steph's, Sunday family dinners with homemade ice cream and BBQ steaks, riding Grandpa's horse, sailing in Uncle Tyler's boat, kindergarten at Grandma's school, annual Disneyland passes, play dates with cousin Christina's super cute girls, outdoor sports all year long, cheaper, fresher produce--I think I need to plant an avocado tree in our back yard, flip-flops w/o frost-bite, driving my big old red convertible, and all the many other great things ahead.
There's much work to be done. I better go, but I will still post as much as I can. Wish us luck!

Congratulations! We will be so sad to say goodbye to you, but it sounds like the right thing to do. We want to be there for all of the kiddos' adoption celebrations before you head off. Oh, and for non-Californians like me, what is a Balboa bar? :-)
Wow sounds like a fabulous opportunity! After the the fun things you mentioned to do in California, maybe we should move there! =)
Good luck with everything!

So maybe we need to make it up for at least ONE visit before you fly the nest! I can't believe you are going back home. It gives me hope that someday we'll make it back down, too:)
