The race was a success. They had sent out an email this week saying they were going to pull "stragglers" out of the water. Meaning if you couldn't stay with the pack they would put you in a boat. I worried I would get yanked out, but I did fine. I finished right where I thought I would, I was somewhere between 1:35 and 1:40, they haven't posted the times yet. I did not win the "fat salmon", but we wouldn't have been able to eat it all before we have to move anyway.
Here's some pre-race shots. They are from my cell phone.

Salmon colored nail polish and timing chip securely fastened.

#716, 3 + mile swim with wetsuit
It takes a minute to get your land legs back. The waves don't help.

Running for the timing strip. Mike was a good sport and brought all the boys and took finishing pictures. Thanks Mike!

Here's Haze, me and our Master's team Coach, Michael. I am really going to miss his practices. He is really really good at writing work outs. Haze did the 1.2 mile and did it so fast she was showered and dressed when I finally finished.
Here's a shot from the car window on the way home. I'm on the 520 bridge looking out across to the I-90 bridge. You can't even really see it, which made me feel like the 3.2 miles was even further, so I must be pretty amazing for swimming that far. I know it was far, I'm super tired. That tall building started out really small and got bigger and bigger. They also had buoys to mark the way, but they were only every 1/2 mile, so the building came it pretty handy.

Besides being tired I have a minor rub rash on my neck from the wetsuit. It burns, but other wise I'm good.

It feels good to be done and to have finished well! Thanks for another good race Haze!
