Why I Pay Money to Go to Quilt Group

Due to Mike's work schedule I have to hire a babysitter to go to quilt group. It's the only church activity I pay money to go to. Mike gets home around 9:30 pm Monday - Thursday. Don't feel sorry for me though, he has a 3 day weekend every week. Anyway, it might be hard for some to understand why I would pay money to go to a quilt group. But I think you will see why after you see all the fun that we had. Roxanne we missed you, these pictures are especially for you. ( =

Here is Michelle's Valentine's Day quilt. This was a group project I was too swamped to participate in, but I would love to make one sometime. Hers is so cute. I love the variety of pinks and reds and prints.

She hasn't washed it yet, but all the edges will fray and it will be super cute and cozy. Terrific texture.

She hasn't decided on a binding yet. Maybe the stripe again? My vote was for a darker red mostly solid fabric.

Here's one of Michelle's friendship quilts. She made the center block and then it got passed around her group. When she got it back she turned it on point and finished it as a queen size. Genius. I love the colors.

Look at the cute butterflies!

This is Joella's very first quilt. WOW! Isn't it great?! It's a nine patch with a solid in a checkerboard pattern. She even stippled it herself.

This one is very sweet and fabulous, of coarse, it's Barbara's. Her other quilt group is making this for one of it's members that just lost her husband. What a thoughtful gift. They each embroidered a square and made a square and Barbara pieced and quilted it all together.

Here's Barbara's embroidered message:

Aren't those appliqued flowers SO perfect and just lovely?

I brought my machine and got some work done. Here's my first finished block for the quilt I decided to make out of the fabric I won from V & Co. It will be twin sized when I'm all done. It's a bit tricky, but not as bad as it looks.

Best of all, Michelle demo-ed her embroidery machine and made us all quilt labels to take home! (She also demo-ed her almost a long arm quilter and we got to test drive it. I just forgot to get a picture of it, sorry. It was really cool though.)

See, now you want to leave your family and come to our quilt night too, huh? Oh yeah, and Michelle made chocolate chip cookies, and she is very good at cookies, it's one of her specialties. Can't wait for next month. Thanks for a great night ladies!
