Recipe for Kathryn

My friend Kathryn recently had twin boys. And she has Tyler who if I remember right is two. So she has three little boys 2 and under. Yikes! Recently on her blog she asked for new recipe ideas for dinner. Her twins aren't eating food yet, but when they do this will be a good one to have. This is a recipe I found online for frugal family friendly meals. My boys chow on this. Seriously--they clean out their whole bowl. This is the only dish they have asked for seconds on. I can't say it's my favorite, but it's good, easy to make, and better than hot dogs and mac n cheese.

This is how it goes when I make it.
1. Thaw out about your hamburger meat in the microwave. (I always buy mine in bulk and freeze it into 1 lb. Ziploc bags. I use 1 or 2 bags in this depending on how hungry I think everyone is.)
2. Chop up an onion into little pieces.
3. Put onion and onion soup mix into sauce pan. Mix together with spatula.
4. Add thawed out hamburger and brown it with onion mix.
5. Add 4 cups of water, bring to a boil.
6. Add baby carrots, as many as you have or want to eat, I do about 2 cups.
7. Cover and boil for 5 - 7 minutes until carrots are tender.
8. Add 2 cups of egg noodles, cover and boil for 5 minutes.

Serve with sour cream and grated cheese. You can make this dinner for about $5 and it feeds our family of 5 sometimes with a little leftover.
