Resolutions

I've been slacking on blogging for the last long while. I have pondered why this is and concluded it's a collection of reasons. Other social media, house projects, kids and all they entail, church, and just life. Then I questioned if blogging is even needed any more. I believe it is. I am back at it. It's a record, an organized, searchable, record. I'm not sure the total value of the record, but I know it's valuable to me. Time seems to speed on faster and faster. And my memory seems fuller and fuller of meaningless things like prices at the grocery store, due dates, schedules . . . it feels like my memory can no longer hold everything and I need to subconsciously delete files in order to make room for the new. (or I may have early onset Alzheimer.) So here I am. I am back at it. It's my resolution this year. My goal is to blog once a week. It may be short, or just a favorite picture or moment, but once a week post something.

So for this week I thought I would post my favorite New Year's Eve party pictures. And before I do, can I just say how much I love Pinterest?! We had an awesome party at our house this year and it would not have been nearly as awesome without Pinterest. We did a family style party with the count down at 9 pm. We watched the ball drop live in New York Times Square. We had a chocolate fountain and everyone brought their favorite things to dip. We made out own party hats and took photo booth pictures with our resolutions. We did an outdoor movie. Martinelli's, noise makers, poppers . . . it was fantastic. It was early enough that none of the kids melted down and the neighbors had no reason to call the police for our craziness. We should do this every year. I suspect we will.

So here were our resolution pictures:

I can never kiss this guy enough.

These guys had a hard time breaking away from the party to take a picture, let alone make a resolution. It would be great if they broke even 25% less this year. Does this picture look like a mug shot to you? Maybe it's just me . . .

This girl in her party dress was happy to pose and smile at her fan club. It's interesting how different I parent her verses the boys. Maybe it's because she is the caboose, or how tickled I am to have a daughter, or her sweet and charming personality, I don't know what it is, but it is definitely different.

I made the photo booth, I really like how it turned out. The gold is cheap wrapping paper on clearance that I cut up with a rotary cutter and quilt ruler. It didn't take as long as you may think and it made for a fun back ground. (Pinterest inspired) Also, I did not curl it, it was the night air that did that for me.

This year has many fun things ahead. Luke will hit double digits this year?! What is that?! Scarlett will start preschool. I have a few projects up my sleeve. Lots to look forward to.

I start this year with a deep gratitude for all my blessings. Husband, children, extended family, health, house, faith, friends, stable income, good schools . . . so many wonderful things. I could not be happier or more blessed. Although 2014 will probably prove me wrong on that.
