I've given up on fighting nature. I just try and steer it as I can these days. What can I say? I'm out numbered and out of my element--the only female in a family of 5.
A while back I posted this on potty training little boys. I've come quite a way on this topic since this post in 2008. Owen, boy # 3, is now completely potty trained and ready for preschool this fall with weeks to spare. I couldn't be happier--all I did was hand out candy--seriously. His pants fit a little differently and he can sure run faster, but best of all he is loving his new independence. Today at the park he turned to me and said, "I'm growing up mom, yep, I'm growing up now."
I will say there is a down side. My mom was horrified last week when she and my dad took the boys to the nature trails and all three started peeing together on a tree. When she returned and told me, I just smiled and thought, well, his pants are dry right?! They later told me, "Mom, no one was there or saw us, just Grandma! Grandpa didn't care."
