My gardener called me from Costco the other day, he saw some flowering bushes he thought would look great in my yard and was just wondering if I wanted him to pick them up for me. "YES! Sounds great!"
He climbs up on a ladder to keep these enormous bushes perfectly trimmed. He's got all sorts of tools I'd never know what to do with--weed whacker, hedge trimmer, edger, etc. He knows how to work them all.
He pulled out a rotten old railroad tie retaining wall and put in this natural rock retaining wall, curving it ever so nicely and placing each rock in the perfect spot.
He planted lavender because he knows I love how it smells and it's deer resistant, because we have deer. He even keeps the lilacs healthy so that each Spring I can smell them through my sewing room window. It's heavenly.

He mixes texture and color to add interest and contrast. (I promise he's straight.)
When he mows the lawn, he even adds my 35 lb. baby to his back. This way Owen can get a bird's eye seat to the master at work, and at the same time he's over coming his fear of the loud scary lawn mower.
He's even teaching Luke and Aaron about seeds and how things grow so that someday they can be master gardeners too. They are so enthusiastic about it, they did this:
Good thing my gardener is my husband. And yeah, I've got a thing for him.

Can you send him to my house? We're clueless about yard maintenance! Luckily, when my dad comes over and says "your tress look horrible," he brings his pruners the next time and takes care of them! Those bushes with the pink flowers are beautiful! I wonder if they grow in Utah.
Beautiful yard - and wonderful husband! You're a lucky lady to have both!
:~D
I love that Owen is 35 pounds. haha. I miss that kid.
ok the funniest and not what i was expecting was the baby on his back while mowing :) so funny!
I'm trying really hard not to covet.
Loved reading this... what a guy! =)
Ha ha! While I was reading this, I was thinking, "Please tell me it's her husband 'cause I think she's got a crush on him!"
Gorgeous yard!
I have one of those yard men in my life too and wrote about him here:

Our three boys are 13, 11 and 8 and when they reach 5th grade they get taught how to do the alternating row mowing. When all 3 are helping in the yard and the naighbors stop and comment he says, "This is why we had boys". he also encouraged our oldest to start a lawn business the summer before 6th grade and the kid has two steady customers who keep him in good cash April through October. Your yard is beautiful!
