So I made it down and back from my parents, two days there and two days back. It was quite a trip. It was made possible through modern DVD technology, the "Magic" of Disney, energy drinks--my favorites were Vitamin Energy--Dragonfruit and Go Girl, funded my my very supportive husband, Hotwire.com for hotel stays, ground control a.k.a. Tyler, Amy and Mike--Mom and Dad too on the way back, and several prayers. The boys were surprisingly wonderful, considering. The roads were pretty good, not great in Oregon, but fine. Mike made it down barely for Christmas Eve. His flight was delayed, but he made it. Thanks to all of you who looked northwest and blew hard for me.
It was so fun to be home for Christmas, I hadn't been home for Christmas in forever. Here's the video of my parent's reaction. I'm not sure I have ever successfully surprised them so well as I did this trip.
I was two hours from home when my mom called and told me my Grandpa had just passed away. I was so glad to have been there with my boys for his last Christmas. There's a Memorial Service this Sunday evening at my parent's church building, and the Funeral and burial will be next Saturday morning in Salt Lake City, Utah. He'll be buried next to my Grandma Randy who passed away 12 years ago, just before Mike and I were married. Grandpa had been sick for many years, living with my mom. I said to him Tuesday morning before I left, I have to go home to Mike. I love you very much Grandpa. I hope you get to see your Sweetheart Randy very soon. Rest well, I love you and I gave him many kisses and a hug goodbye. His eyes were wide open when I went in and as I sat and talked to him, his eyes slowly closed and he seemed at peace. I will miss him very much. I'll have to post a tribute soon. For now I will be planning for more travel and preparing for the funeral.

I don't know why I am so shocked to hear about grandpa Brady passing. I'm glad you got to go see him and your parents. That was an awesome surprise, I loved the video. Also, I just want you to know you guys are welcome to stay with us when you come up for the funeral. We would love it. We have two extra bedrooms and an extra bathroom downstairs. I know this is super last minute, but if it helps, let me know. Sorry again.

That video was precious...makes me sad that I haven't been home in a while. Maybe we'll try harder to get there next year. And condolences on your grandpa's passing. But it sounds like he's rejoycing with your grandma up in heaven!
