Summer Birthdays

Well, birthday season at our house is over. We survived it well. I think everyone felt loved and celebrated. It's 4 birthdays in 2 months, so it's boom, boom, boom, boom. Not to mention since it's Summer they are all with me all the time, so shopping and prepping gets a little nutz. But, hey, it's a party right?

We kicked it off with Owen turning 6 at the beginning of June. Who doesn't want a donut bigger than his face for birthday breakfast?

He wanted a skateboard and a guitar.

Next up was Luke (turning 9) who asked for a party with friends. We hadn't done a friends party since he turned 4, so we were well over-due. We did a back-yard Sandlot movie night. It was fairly simple and a ton of fun.

I was so impressed with the boys he invited over.
So respectful and well behaved. Nice work choosing friends Luke!

Next, at the beginning of July, was Scarlett--who is now 2. She was lucky to have all her New York cousins in town. We had so much fun with them. Scarlett especially bonded with her cousin Emma (8), who is also the only girl in her family. We went all out and had a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake to everyone to enjoy.

She blew her candles out one at a time, all by herself. (with lots of cheering and encouragement of coarse)

. . . and last, but not at all least, is Aaron who is now 7. He gets to watch everyone else turn a year older first. He is wise and makes a list of all his favorites so when it is finally his birthday he knows exactly what he wants.

First is was lunch at Rain Forrest Cafe. Everyone's favorite--can't beat the atmosphere. Not to mention the food is great too.

We all got super cool frog hats to wear. Scarlett is not too sure about the 'lillas. (gorillas that talk and move every 5 - 10 minutes) She sat on my lap the entire time saying 'scarey" and looking over her shoulder every few seconds. Just yesterday she told me, "lillas are going to eat you Mommy." They left quite an impression!

Next stop the Lego Store for some presents. Aaron loves to shop. There isn't really a store my boys love more than the Lego Store.

And he even got a second go at the candles at family dinner. He requested another Baskin Robbins cake, so I did my best to recreate one. Sadly it melted on the way over to Aunt Steph's. But it tasted really good, so who cares. Right?

No more birthdays at our house this year! Woo-hoo, feels good to be done. And now I am gearing up for Back to School, our 17th Anniversary (what?!), Halloween and all the holidays.
