I had so much fun with this theme. It seemed to fit our family, yard, the age and style of the birthday boy, it just fit everything so well.
For the entrance of our driveway, we lined it with yellow balloons--trying to copy the little lights on the aisles at movie theaters.
For food and party favors we went with an assortment of theater box candies and everything baseball. It was tricky finding the Big League Chew. Apparently only evil parents allow their children to "chew" like the major league-rs. Mike got dirty looks at CVS when he tried there. "We don't sell candy like that here." I felt we needed it in the spread due to the barf scene in the movie resulting from a bad tobacco/roller coaster combination. It was a nice reminder of what NOT to do.
I had an extra good time researching what Babe Ruth's signature looks like and trying to recreate it for the cake.
What is a Sandlot party without a "Beast" at the fence?! And ours comes complete with drool loogie and all.
As the guests arrived they had a nice Foosball tournament.
It was great because they each had a row to play and they are still small enough to fit around the table.
I made the screen out of an old soccer banner frame and some black-out fabric from JoAnns.
I spent about $8 on the screen. (after 40% off coupon) I feel pretty good about that.
After the movie we sang, had cake and opened presents.
To be honest, the boys barely touched the cake and cupcakes. They were full from popcorn and candy.
Happy Birthday Luke!
The great thing about this party was it would be so easy to alter with another movie theme and do again.
I see many more of these in our future!
