15 Years

Mike and I had our 15 year anniversary yesterday. Can you believe that? Time is a weird thing like that. It just sneaks up on you and surprises you.

My gift to Mike this year was a walk down memory lane. Each hour of the day for 15 hours I gave him an envelope with a memory writen in it. Each memory had a little gift that went with it. For example, a recent good memory is taking the boys to Disneyland, so he got a retro Micky t-shirt. From 7am - 9pm he had something fun to remember and something fun to open. I think he liked it.

My sister-in-law told me that any girl married into the family of 7 brothers for 15 years deserves lots and lots of diamonds. But I'm not much of a diamonds girl, although they are very nice. For me it was a gift card to one of my favorite shops, a new camera of my choosing, a coupon book of great things from Mike like massages, sushi and fro-yo and a green light for the new kitchen remodel.

This weekend we are going out Friday night. I had previously planned a whole weekend away, but with our new little house guest, that proves difficult. So just one evening. I've got some fun stuff planned. (Don't want to spoil the surprise.) I'll have to post some pics later.

I think the best part of a big anniversary is taking a break and thinking about all the good memories, all the trials overcome, all the milestones crossed and making time to celebrate a little and be so glad for the love in your life. I'm a pretty lucky girl.

What a great idea! I may steal it for our anniversary. Although four hours of gifts isn't quite as much fun as 15 :D
