I remember our adoption weekend for Aaron and Owen in Seattle. It was supposed to rain the whole weekend. I was really bummed because we had rented a bounce house for the party for the boys and all their friends. We had planned a back yard BBQ. Plus I knew we would be hiking to the courthouse from the parking structure in the rain. Wouldn't that be great for pictures?
But you know what? It never rained while we were outside. It poured and drizzled while we were inside, and everytime we stepped out, it had just cleared up. It smelled wonderful and fresh everytime. Our BBQ was so much fun. The whole weekend was perfect. Those 2 years waiting for it, well they were totally worth it.
My cousin, Tanne is getting married. She's been waiting for this day her whole life. The perfect Mr. Right, the perfect place . . . the whole package. It's such a blessing to be in town for it and to see all the details fall into place. The perfect backyard reception planning in the works, she had the most gorgeous bridal shower ever, I'm sure it's more stressful on her side, but from where I sit, it's so fun and amazing to watch.
I get to help out with her dress. She found a dress that fit her perfect on clearance. (which is great because she is sticking to her budget.) I was amazing she found something that fit because she is just so dang tiny! She loved the skirt on it, but the bodice, although it fit, wasn't quite right for her and also showed off way too much skin. This was the best shot I could get of it online.
She bought some lace, which was perfect for her--dainty and sweet. We played around with it and she created just what she wants.
Next I made an overlay bottice out of her lace. She chose box pleat darts for the front and back, which I think give it a bit of vintage flair.
Here she is showing it off on her wedding day!
The happy family with their new added son and brother:
The reception dinner was a perfect twilight venue. So simple and elegant:
Somehow these roughnecks made it past security.
Such a great day for such a great girl! Congratulations Tanne!!
I feel like a got a lot of help from Heaven as I was making this dress. It was all custom, no pattern and totally unique. And surprisingly, it just went quick and easy. At the time I thought it was because I was doing a nice thing for a cousin or because she's such a great person she needs the perfect dress, but it think it was also because my pink bundle was almost ready for pick-up. Whatever the case all the miracles fell into place and it was a magical weekend.

You are amazing. The bodice on that dress was gorgeous! No one but you could've done that. SO glad you're close!
I love you! This is the first time I read this part of your blog :) You are so the best!
