Thinking about it

Last weekend Mike's sister Ann and her husband John came to visit. It was fabulous. I love them. We were lucky enough to live near them through grad school in Minnesota. The weather there was rough for me, but the family and all the wonderful people made it all better.

We went down to the beach to hang out while they were here--Balboa Bars and frozen bananas, boardwalking, out on the pier and dinner at Ruby's. It was a perfect day with them.

Here's a shot from the Balboa Pier of the Newport Pier. It's 2 miles. Think I can swim it? There's a race the lifeguards host every summer and I'm thinking about it. It wouldn't be my longest swim or my longest race, but it would be my first salt water open water swim.

I'm thinking go for it. Maybe keep it under an hour? Something to work for.

I grew up in Minnesota, so yes, I am totally nodding my head agreeing with ya how mean those weathers can be there. And wow! Swim the 2 miles... You can do it! I don't know how to swim. I tried, but according to my husband I look like a fish flopping on dry land.

You should definitely swim it! I mean, doesn't the salt help you float, thus making you faster? Imagine how fast you would be in a swim in the Great Salt Lake. If you can get past the smell, that is... By the way, I miss you!
