Quilt Show

A while back I asked Mike if I could sneak off by myself on a Saturday and do something completely frivolous and somewhat selfish. I just wanted some me time to do something I like.

Our city Rec Department was hosting all the quilt groups in the area for a quilt show. There were quilters from all over Southern California right around the corner with all their best work.

I could have spent all day tooling around, oggling and taking pictures, but I just spent a couple hours. It was like a museum, but with all the artists there, things for sale, patterns, demos--quilter heaven.

So here's some of my favorites. I would love to do a Christmas wall hanging, maybe something like this:

I loved how the houses went into the border on this one. All of this was applique.

4th of July quilt with 8 pointed stars. Picnic perfect.

This one was SO cool. She did it all with glue sticks and then machine quilted over it, around each piece of fabric and all over in swirls. Glue sticks--so smart!

Another great Christmas wall hanging idea. All those perfectly fussy cut pieces to make such a perfectly snow frosted tree. She used a bedazzler to put on all the sparkly ornaments.

I love the scrappy cottage feel of this one.

This last one was for sure my favorite. I loved that it didn't have a finished square border. I love that the bee is 3D with iridescent wings and shimmer. She made this from a picture she took. She appliqued all the fabrics on there to match the picture. Wow--so artistic and gorgeous.

I gotta get that border on our new bed quilt so I can post some pictures. This post has me feeling a little more motivated and inspired. ( =
