1) He is sweet and tender. He's afraid of skeletons in the craft store at Halloween--covers his eyes and burries his head in my neck. Nearly everytime I help him out of his carseat he gives me a hug and a kiss--just because. Whenever I sneeze or cough, he asks, "Mommy, are you ok, mommy?"
2) He's the toughest kid on the playground. Because he's boy #3, he can run with the big dogs. If he falls or gets pushed around, he brushes himself off and stands his ground. His cousin Taylor asked me this weekend, "Does Owen ever get hurt? He just fell really hard on the cement and didn't even cry!" If he cries it's really bad or he got his feeling hurt.
3) His persona makes all around him smile. I'm not sure if it's the perfect spiral curls that bob as he walks, or the golden sun-kissed complextion, the million dollar smile, his love for good food and treats, or the way he talks or the things he says, I'm not sure what it is, but I don't know anyone who doesn't just look at him and smile. At the beach yesterday everyone who walked past him smiled and either waved or said hi. Those sitting near us smiled and watched him chase the birds and play tag with the waves. There's just something about him that cheers everyone up.
For his birthday he got a brand new Buzz "Bightyear" bike. It's the first one I've bought yet--purchased partly out of guilt, since I ran the well used hand-me-down bike over with the car. (no one leaves their bikes out anymore!!) He loves it and lets Aaron ride in back standing on the training wheels.
I'm not sure what I would do with out Owen. He radiates joy.
