Big Ideas

This is the street side of my house. You can see why I don't drive up to it and say to myself, "home sweet home". There's no front door or porch. It looks like the back of a house--which is what it is. Some of those trees have to go because they are too close to the house and are starting to mess up the foundation. I think thinning them a little will help the curb apeal too. Or how about removing that ugly built-in wall A/C unit? Can you see it next to the chimney? Uhg.

I'd love to add a front door between the windows and put on a cute little porch like this one.

I'd love an upstairs with a family room and a couple more bedrooms. Maybe we can add a big dormer like this one . . .

or a couple smaller ones like these . . .

And I would just love to add one of these octagonal rooms like this. If we do a second story, it would have a really nice view on the south side. Imagine sitting in a room like this one looking out over the valley and city lights. Wouldn't that be dreamy?

But maybe all that is too complicated and something more modern would be better or easier. In which case I would love something like this . . . (on a much more modest scale of coarse)

A girl can dream right?

Maybe someday I can give this post's link to an architect as a homework assignment. ( =
