I used a honey bun I won in a giveaway from this amazing lady and a Riley Blake jelly roll I bought because I just had to have it--it was all the right colors and patterns for her nursery. I was still short on fabric to get as many hexies as I wanted, so I bought up some more. I love the shops that will sell you an 8th a yard. It made for a nice scrappy feel with so many prints and patterns. There's just about every print you can imagine--paisley, stripes, polka dot, floral, argyle, checks, hearts, cherries, birds, lollipops, dresses--it's everything baby girl and adorable.
It's small enough I was able to stipple it on my own machine. It's an all over tight stipple, so it has a nice crinkled, vintage feel.
Binding the edges was a little tricky, there are no 90 degree angles on this quilt. You are either turning a 120 degree corner or going in 120 degrees. It took a couple tries mitering, but I finally got it to turn and lay flat and straight.
It ended up looking just perfect hanging on her crib, part of the nursery decor.
It was so fun to plan this room and finally get my baby girl!! Beautiful room for a beautiful girl.
