Monday, we got some chores done around the house, when to the gym, ate lunch and then headed down to one of my most favorite spots for some scooter riding, Balboa Bars and some fishing--well casting practice. ( =
BTW, I need a scooter to keep up with them. My speed walking didn't cut it this trip.
I tricked them into scootering around the whole island before they got their reward. We parked one street down from the shop and went full circle before we bought treats. I'm so smart. Three rainbow sprinkle Balboa bars and for them and for me--a heath bar pecan crunch frozen banana. Everyone was VERY happy.
On our way around the island we checked the pubic docks for fish so we would know the very beast spot to catch a fish.
If you fish you know it's not really always about what you catch as much as who you fish with and where you fish. These guys had a blast. Casting, waiting, boat watching, digging in the sand, and then repeat. It was a beautiful day. When we actually catch something it will be a very BIG deal!
While we were circling the island an older lady out for a stroll pasted us and smiled. She said "what a beautiful menagerie of little boys." I smiled back and said thank you. Our paths only crossed a second, but what a lovely exchange. "Menagerie"--I guess that's the retired, sophisticated, Balboa Island version of variety pack. I think I may have to retire there . . . after I win the lottery.
Thank you Martin Luther King Jr. for helping the world to change. I love my beautiful boys and am so glad others do too.
