Each face and family I send a card to has blessed our lives so much. Mike's youth leaders from church that kept him out of too much trouble, the kind widow who lived across the street when Luke was born, all our college friends. Fifteen years of marrage, 4 states and 8 different residences, well we have never wanted for friends.
As the cards come back from all our friends and family all December long, I wallpaper my entry with them.
As I look at the wall it makes me feel like that scene in "It's a Wonderful Life" at the end when Harry raises his glass and says, "To my brother, George, the richest man in town." I feel pretty rich with friends.
It's sad to take them all down. But they'll be back again next year to remind me how blessed I am.
